About Clark Family Tree
CREATION OF THIS FAMILY TREE

In 1980, Lloyd Clark had retired and began a life long dream to research his
family history. By receiving an overwhelming response from many family
members, he complied this vast database of family history and biographical
information. Using a standard typewriter and small personal copier, Lloyd
published his first family history volume in January of 1985. He sent copies
of the family tree to all interested family members and published a monthly
newsletter updating family with new information and family highlights. He
received many letters from family members which he printed in the newsletter.

Lloyd died October 11, 1991. In his memory, I have compiled the data he
collected to a database and subsequently to two websites. The following
dedication and acknowledgements are from his original publication.

Gail (Clark) Griffin

DEDICATION:

From the First Printing in 1985:

"To those brave pioneers, whose courage, self-discipline, determination and
love of the land is our great legacy & Leo F. Clark".

From the First Edition, January 1986:

"To those brave pioneers whose courage, self-discipline, determination and
love of the land is our great legacy, and to Leo F. Clark. We all stand in debt
to Leo F. Clark, (my father's brother) who inspired me at a very early age to
compile these pages. His commendable interest in family history, family
scrapbooks and photo albums, together with membership in the Kansas State
Historical Society, practically made my inspiration an obsession. He organized
the annual Kansas Old Settler's Day and was instrumental in inspiring his
Mother to write the narrative 'Early Days Along the Solomon Valley'.

In addition to those mentioned in this volume, I wish to thank the following
descendants for their help and encouragement in the research of the history:

Samuel C. Clark, Ruby M. Morningstar, Alice M. Splitstone, Ruth M. Samuels,
Percy R. Clark, Thelma Sheel, Ralph Feather, Jessie Blair, Gaye Maring,
Juanita Wagner, and Delma Kimsey."
